Patient Services

Hill Top Patient Group

The Hill Top PPicture1.jpg-1atient Group meets once a quarter to discuss the way the surgery is run, ideas for community groups and events and to improve healthservices. Any registered patient is welcome to get involved in the Patient Group. If you would like to be involved or for further information please contact Kim Lowe on 0161 6222 760. Through the HPG the group has taken part in Heartstart courses, Surgery open days and coffee mornings, and heard first hand from staff and our Clinical Commissioning Group everything that’s new in healthcare in Oldham and what can be done to help improve services and health.

In 2015 Hill Top Surgery came up with an action plan for the surgery and the group. Out of this with some help funtitledrom Diabetes UK we have run a Diabetes Patient Support Group for 12 months, covering topics from foot and eye-care to healthy eating and mindfulness. The surgery is looking to do something different next year, but from this has come the Hill Top Growers, a group for all the community to learn to grow and cook our own fresh food, which meets at the surgery every Thursday from 10am-11.30am . All ages and abilities are welcome!

At the moment the Hill Top Growers are preparing for the Spring season ahead so will be meeting at different times until Christmas 2016, and hoping to put in some raised beds, a disabled access pathway and a small fruit orchard at the back of the surgery. Next week we will visit the Community Gardening Hub at Alexandra Park on Thursday 29th September from 1-3pm. Please either meet us at the Hub or please come to the surgery for 12.45pm if you would like a lift.

Our next Patient Group meeting will be held in early November 2016. Please contact Kim at the surgery for further details.
